I am a Board-Certified Physician with over 30 years of experience in eye medicine and surgery with special expertise in laser technology. I graduated from Kenyon College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. After receiving my medical degree from the University of Tennessee, I completed my ophthalmology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. I had been in practice in the New Haven area for over 15 years as an Ophthalmologist, utilizing laser technology since the early 1980’s. I then moved away to perfect my Laser Vision Correction techniques and soon after FDA approval began performing laser vision correction in one of the first two laser centers in the United States to offer the procedure.
I have returned to the New Haven area, excited to expand my laser expertise into the field of Laser Skin Therapy for Anti-Aging. I have added the CoolGlide® Laser Therapy System to my practice in 2003. I was a participant in the first Altus CoolGlide® users group Clinical Forum in New York City. The acquisition of the new CoolGlide® laser product allows me to provide all my patients with this extremely comfortable, fast and effective hair and vein removal treatment as well as removal of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, the vessels and diffuse redness of rosacea. Unlike older technologies available CoolGlide® allows me to successfully treat more patients, not just those with lighter skin and darker hair. My patients, both men and women alike, really appreciate this new laser technology because it is fast and effective with minimal discomfort. In addition, patients can return to their normal activities almost immediately; indeed some of them schedule it as a “lunch-hour procedure.”
An early upgrade of the CoolGlide® Laser System, the “Xeo”, brings on-board Intense Pulsed Light Technology which permits me to treat outwardly visible signs of aging and skin damage such as large pores, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, acne scars, signs of rosacea such as facial vessels and diffuse redness, and also port-wine stains.
In late 2008, ours became the first practice in CT to offer the Revage 670TM Low Level Laser Therapy for Hair Restoration. In the time since then we have dozens of happy patients who are no longer shedding hair and who are indeed gaining back hair that they had thought was gone forever.
A new exciting addition to our Low Level Laser Therapy is the Zerona, the exciting breakthrough that allows us to offer non-invasive “Laser Lipo” to those patients who wish to be slimmer, without invasive, potentially dangerous Liposuction or other even more invasive and dangerous procedures to eliminate fat. Our first 17 patients have completed their ZERONA treatment and have an average inch loss of 4.2 inches!!! The male record holder has lost 7 inches and the female record holder has lost a remarkable 10 inches!!!
